Today’s #TeachingTipTuesday is GETTING PARENTS INVOLVED!
Getting Parents Involved!
Parents are powerful resources to ministry. Sunday School and Youth Ministries are often challenged with ways to get parents involved.
Today’s schedules are busy and we are juggling a lot. How do you get them involved?
Consider an early light breakfast with children and their parents. Use perhaps a 30 minute timeframe twice per year to allow students to share with their parents what they have learned or a craft of which they are producing.
It is important to educate your parents on their child's class routine. And you know what, sometimes parents "learn by doing" as well as children. So why not let your parents come to Sunday School with their child? Design a day where parents are encouraged to participate in the lesson and activities with the children.
Parents come away very surprised to learn how many different learning experiences have taken place by playing and the thinking process that goes into your lesson planning.
Make your Youth classes ROCK.
2.Be clear in expectations of parents and how they can help.
3.Work on your presence with parents.
4.Get to know parents.
5.Don’t be afraid to ask!
